On-U Sound Presents ... Pay it All Back Vol. 8!

On-U Sound is proud to present the latest volume in the much-loved and collectable series of On-U Sound label samplers, packed with exclusives, alternate mixes and previews of upcoming releases. Includes unreleased tracks from Lee “Scratch” Perry, Tackhead, African Head Charge, Mark Stewart, Creation Rebel, Andy Fairley and more.

Pay It All Back Vol. 8 will be released on limited edition blue vinyl, and CD. The vinyl comes with full sleevenotes, fold-out 24” x 12” 'Pay It All Back' concert poster, and download card. The CD is a one disc CD, housed in 6 panel eco friendly digipak, with sleevenotes and full track information.

Label boss Adrian Sherwood comments: “As usual with the Pay It All Back series, the intention is to promote our upcoming releases and productions. Also on offer are previously unreleased gems, versions of tracks exclusive to this release and more from artists that we’re keen to promote. Sadly in the last year we have lost so many music giants from amongst us, including Lee “Scratch” Perry, George Oban and John Sharpe. Lee Perry laughed at death. It was to him just a part of life and another beginning...I trust Lee. I’m very proud of this album, it goes out to all On-U Crew, our missing and irreplaceable friends.”

Bleep and Bandcamp are only showing 16 Digital tracks. These three aren't listed:

The Vinyl seems to have 12 tracks plus another 5 listed with the Download card, making 17 (i.e. missing Segue 8 - Hebden's HiFi & Lesson 7 & Scott Crow ft. Doug Wimbish - andthe (Arise) Adrian Sherwood Remix).

I wonder what tracks are on the CD?

To answer my own question, it seems the CD has all 19 tracks, at least according to resident.

The first music to be shared from the album is an unreleased track with the late, great Lee “Scratch” Perry - “Many Names Of God” is an outtake from the sessions that produced the Rainford and Heavy Rain albums and also features vocals from Nightmares On Wax collaborator LSK aka Leigh Kenny.

I collected my blue vinyl from the post office yesterday. It's a very nice blue vinyl. I think opaque coloured vinyl is better than translucent. That sleeve though - so boring. Been trying to think of a worse On-U sleeve...

If i may quote myself on Discogs: "Let’s not talk about the Sound of On U, everyone who knows the label recognizes the hand of dub-meister Adrian Sherwood. I would like to give attention to the On U Sound logo. As from the first release (ON-Usound1.) the characteristic way in which On U Sound is written appears somewhere on the label or record cover (apart from a couple of exceptions). It survived 30 years of (frequently) lowfi quality of cover design. And fortunately, at the latest rebirth of the label, it gets a prominent, honorable place again: “Disturbing the comfortable, comforting the disturbed”. ". 
So for me On U Sound sleeve's have never been thrilling, like for example the Peter Saville stuf for Factory.

As (I think) mentioned somewhere else on here, the On-U logo was designed by the mysterious E St John Mildmay, who Adrian recently named as Eroica. She appeared dancing around with a young child in one of those two New Age Steppers videos that were recently unearthed. Nowadays a writer and scourge of Tesco in Sheringham
