as a minor diversion, the powerstation link says this:
is this true? i always thought heaven on earth was based on powerstation; while there's similarities between heaven on earth and powerstation throughout numerous mixes, the swarthy mix of powerstation has an instrumental break at 4:23 that sounds a lot like a direct prototype of heaven on earth (no overdubs e.g. "ain't no heaven on earth!" pastor, louder mixing)

Not sure it's that easy to say from the outside which came first, but Heaven On Earth appeared on Keith's album in 1986, and the Che album wasn't until 1989 or so and I've no reason to believe it was recorded significantly before then. It's the same rhythm; they might have picked or made a sparser mix as the basis for Powerstation and developed it on from there. More words in my article jrbinks.wordpress.com/2019/12/28/major-malfunction-reimagined/ I am particularly partial to the schwwwwwaaaarp snare throughout.

the che album (w/ a downbeat remixed version of powerstation) wasn't untill 1989 but the powerstation single itself was 1986. additionally, "get this" from major malfunction has the same schwaarp and some other percussion (and the spoken sample "i want you to get this beloved") as powerstation; it seems likely to me that get this and heaven on earth were two different remixes of powerstation.
(either way get this and heaven on earth are probably still connected in some way; in en concert (tackhead live bootleg) and tackhead power inc. volume 3 (tackhead live), the song labeled "heaven on earth" takes elements from both, and power inc. volume 3 heaven on earth starts the exact same way as major malfunction get this)
