I've got the full lossless capture from FM of the whole show and edits of course, I just export mp3 for most people's convenience.
How did you capture it swamps?

ahh, FM. that still goins? hehe. ain't reced FM fer many years. i do like the sound ov FM provided itz hi qual, but m4a is higher qual. i jus d/l offa iplayer wiv get_iplayer. if i had reced FM i wudda converted to mp3. coupla times i'v had the option ov postin either mp3 from FM or m4a & i'v always gon wiv m4a edit: shudda mentioned, i use YAMB to extract m4a to aac, then i can edit losslessly in mp3DirectCut, then YAMB back to m4a & edit tags in mp3tag

It's hard to know in our digital production world what goes on behind the scenes; I think the production/playout system takes in mp3 (at what quality? you'd hope 320kbps), but I've no idea now what happens on the broadcast path to FM transmitters. I guess it is no longer analogue all the way, but is it lossy, re-encoding the mp3 further? Likewise, the path from playout to iplayer? What conversion process does that go through? It's a capture of the outbound audio stream, chopped into time segments, but is it capturing an analogue audio feed (that played mp3s) and recoded it into into another (lossy?) format, potentially adding more artifacts? Or is it chopping up a digital stream that never got decoded out to analogue first?
Which of them is better, FM -> mp3, FM -> FLAC, m4a capture from iplayer? I doubt my ears can tell the difference ...
